Toggle Switch: You will notice above that there is a toggle switch included inline with the cold cathodes power wiring. This is a nice feature. Allows you to simply turn the light off even if your computer is running. Now the only issue is that if you mount the cold cathode inside your computer case, then you will of course not be able to reach the toggleswitch. The good thing is that the toggle switch as you can see is designed to be custom mounted on your case. Inverter: The power inverter is about 1 inch tall by 2 inches long. It has small screw tabs on the sides so that you can easily mount it on the inside of your PC case or wherever you want. Power Wires: The power wires themselves are about 3 feet long, which is more than enough to reach anywhere in a computer case. I found it almost excessive myself, but I just tied them up with a twisty tie to keep them out of the way. The wires are UV Reactive, even the molex plugs on the ends are reactive too. Included Adhesives: These generic adhesives will stick your ATake UV light to just about anything. Be aware though that they are hard to remove. I have much experience with these adhesives and tend not to use them if possible. If the inside of your computer is not super hot, I would suggest going to wal-mart and picking up some of the yellow sticky tape stuff, its a non-permanent playdough looking tape goo. It will hold fairly heavy stuff, but if you get it hot it will soften up. TESTING We tested the ATake UV Light Set by installing it in a modern computer system that your average geek would have. Installation is simple, you plug the light on to a free molex connector coming from your power supply. Then when the computer is running you just toggle the switch and Bang! You have UV light everywhere! If you want to mount it and not just sit it in the bottom of your case, you can use the included adhesives or some sticky tape as I suggested earlier. Below you can see the glow of the UV Light lying outside of the case. Notice the UV reactive power wires. Mmmmm Glowy lights... *drools*
Next we decided to see how the included UV reactive cables look under the black purple glow of the UV light.
Looks nice with one cable right? How about a case full? Heres a close look at the inside of our test case without, then with the ATake UV Light. Notice any difference? Yes i'm kidding...
As you can see, the ATake UV Light produces a very even and bright glow on the Included cables and even third party cables like those of the X-Connect 400w power supply in the above pictures. In a dimly lit room heres what you can expect the side window to look like ( UV Reactive side window by the way).
QUALITY EVALUTATION The quality of the ATake UV Light was equal to or better than that of the majority of cold cathode lights I have seen. The lighting is even, power works fine. Cord is long enough to reach anywhere that you would really need it. The included inverter and toggle switch seem to be of high quality also. Not much that can be wrong with a UV light, and this light is no exception to the norm. CONCLUSION The ATake UV Light Set is a convenient product. Coming with the Cold Cathode UV Light and UV Reactive IDE + Floppy cables instead of the light by itself. Overall it is equal in quality and features with other similar products. The winning point in this item is that seems to be priced cheaper, where as the other UV Lights seem to be priced the same but do not come with cables or an inline toggle switch. It may not be extraordinary but ATake's UV Light Set is quality and convenience at a good price. PROS - Quality Built, No problems during testing or installation
- Good even UV Lighting, Cables react very nicely !
- Power wires are approx 3ft long, can place anywhere on case or even outside of it.
- Inline toggle switch on the power wires so you don't have to run it all the time.
CONS - Cables ties or something should be included since most people would need to tie up the long power wires.
