More features!

When you press the cool little Victorinox cross logo you activate the super bright led! Heres a look at the LED with the lights on in a room!

Super Bright LED on the Victorinox Memory Stick
Thats pretty bright!

The LED runs off a Panasonic CR 1025, 3V tiny watch type
battery. Yes the battery is included, its already in the knife and supposedly should last about two years.

The battery is EASY to take out and put in, i was afraid it was going to be a pain so I checked for all of you, so now you know. Thank you Swissbit!

The LED is not bright enough to illuminate a room but its good enough to help you get your keys into your door at night. Before I was having to use my led binary watch!

One more thing before the Flash Drive info, Look at the size of this thing!

SwissMemory USB, smaller than Cruzer Mini
The entire knife is about 2 and 1/4" long
smaller than my worn out Cruzer Mini 128mb drive.

Tiny flash drive detached from SwissMemory USB Knife
When you detach the Flash Drive from the knife
it is so tiny and thin! You could like put it in a FLEA or somthing.
The flash drive itself is almost 2" long

Flash Drive!

Ah the flash drive, the reason we are here.

First of all it is a USB 1.1 drive, fully USB 2.0 Compliant though.
Just wanted to get that out of the way.

I benchmarked it in SiSoft Sandra to compare to a few other storage devices.

The "SwissMemory USB Victorinox" registered a 980kB/s on the drive index. Hah alot faster than ye olde floppy drive, faster also than a USB 250MB Zip drive, a 64mb PQI intelligent stick and a 256mb Super Talent flash drive! Quality!
Not too bad for USB 1.1!

I transferred files on and off it. It was very quick. Windows XP detected it perfectly and within a few seconds it was ready to be used. When plugged in you can see a little green LED flashing that shows it active so you dont rip it out of your usb ports while data is transferring and ruin all those pictures of the bears.

SwissMemory USB, Green LED light shows activity.
The SwissMemory stick plugged into the included USB
Type A extension cord.

It gets a little warm after running for a bit but thats expected.

Good ol Gold plating to prevent evil corrosion.

As you have seen, the Flash Drive is detachable so that if you get on a airplane you won't have any trouble with the authorities.

Software:
Now for the Included software, this is pretty cool.
The software is on the Flash Drive unit, it is called SECURELOCK
it allows you to partition the flash drive with three options.

Private Area: This password locks, & encrypts all data on the flash drive.
Public Area: This turns off the encryption and password function.
Private and Public: Allows you to define how large you want the Private partition to be in MBs

Also you can run a repair disk which formats the drive and checks for bad blocks.

Whats also nice is when you have the Drive formatted for Private Area, it hides all the files so all you can see on the drive is SECURELOCK. When you unlock the drive the securelock hides itself and unhides all the files, then to logout all you have to do is double click a icon in the start tray. Works smooth and efficiently!

Conclusion:
Well I guess that about covers it. This is an excellent piece of equipment. It has the perfect tools for a computer nerd, technician or business traveler. It is quality made, nothing is flimsy on this.
It holds up to Victorinox quality and Swissbits precision. With all my nitpicking the only thing I could find they could have done better is make it USB 2.0 But really for only 128mb USB 1.1 is all you need unless you are some kind of speed freak who needs everything done in a millisecond.

If you wanted a USB stick to modify or put in somthing else, the flash drive in this is so tiny you could take it out of its plastic enclosure and put it in a rubber ducky, drink coaster or whatever you want a flash drive in.

If you always need a Pen, Knife or Flash drive like me, I would deffinently recommend you consider getting one of these babies.
