Pet Virus
Pet Computer Virus We were sent a nice, fluffy computer virus to review, we will take a look at it and see if it could serve some useful purpose ( other than destroying data you didn't want to be seen anyways ). Right off we are thinking this could be a good way to attract geek girls..

A Deadly Computer Virus?

The TechAbsorbed office computers seem to have contracted an odd virus, not your normal computer virus by any means. Instead of spreading when an E-mail was opened, it propagated when a snail mail package was opened. It appears to be a physical computer virus! (maybe I should'nt have auto replied to all that spam with my office address... saying "Hah send me all the viruses you can! I am invincibleee!" )

My Desktop is Infected!

As I am always eager to see a new, interesting product. I foolishly opened the Virus Container, dumped out a Virus and you guessed it, my desktop was immediately infected.

The fat, fuzzy and green virus just sat there, embedded on top of my monitor. I tryed to remove him with disinfectants, alcohol, cleaning solutions, I even tried to lure him away by tying strings to my backup CDs and pulling them across the desk. Nothing worked!

I knew I had to do something before it spread, you know how these viruses are; you get one then suddenly you have no choice but to format; And I was NOT about to format the WHOLE office! It would take soooo long to reinstall my office.

Finally, I realized that I never looked at the small instruction sheet that arrived with him! Quickly looking over the instructions I found out what to do. I snuck up on the virus with snake like precision; with one swift pounce I quarantined him back into his small container.

Once in the container, it was much more calm. I read in the instructions that the Virus should not escape if you keep him in the container and perched on top of your monitor. (Perhaps Viruses are scared of heights?)  Taking the good advice, I placed him on top of the monitor and everything seemed to be fine.

While examining the virus and reading more; I learned that these Viruses have their Egg Sac removed so they can no longer duplicate themselves. Thats a very good thing, if these started to spread, my office would look like a 70's shag carpet.

Now that the virus was calm and I knew how to contain him; I decided that perhaps I should contact the people who sent it to me. I found the E-mail and through correspondance found out that the Virus was sent for review and that it is a PET Virus. It makes sooo much seeense now!

After double checking to make sure our anti-virus program was running, we played with the virus a while. We feel the virus is pretty cute for something so destructive, and it doesn't seem too intent on destroying your harddrive. So they might make pretty good pets! In fact it seems that a majority of women find these viruses particularly cute and cuddly. You might be able to score a few points on the Relationship-O-Meter by getting one of these for your significant other!

Review Summary

The Pet Virus doesn't do much but sit there and look cute, though it is pretty good at doing that. Women will notice it, and laugh when you tell them how it gobbles up harddrives and eats paper shreddings.

If you have a sense of humour and like funny stuff, do pick one up or buy one as a gift. =]

    PROS
  • Women will love them for a new desktop\office decoration
  • Cute and Cuddly ( Did I just use those words? )
    CONS
  • Possible destruction of harddrive and backed up data (not really)
