What is it like to fire?

I have never fired a real weapon (I figure I will live a lot longer wielding a keyboard rather than a machine that spits out hot metal projectiles of death at 2800FPS), but I will assume that firing an airsoft gun is nothing like a real gun. There is close to no kick at all, less than with a pellet rifle it seems. You do feel it vibrate ever so slightly.

They are pretty noisy though, like noisy enough that if you were to stand in your backyard blowing apart various fruits and vegetables, your neighbors would be very likely to hear you. It's in my nature to multi-task, I was trying to work up a fruit salad and some mashed potatoes for dinner..I promise... (see the videos later in review ;]  )

I can say this, on Full Auto they are awesome to fire, much more fun than your standard pump BB or Pellet rifle. Probably the closest you will ever get to firing a machine gun also!

Accuracy Range Test:

I decided to test out the 60 - 80 ft accurate range. For this I enlisted the help of Daniel, an avid airsoft player and member of HARM (Huntsville Airsoft Recreational Milsim). Feel free to drop by their site and join their forums if you have any questions about the sport of airsoft, or wish to play with HARM in their northern alabama playing locations.

On a day with little to no wind we set up range targets at 75ft, 50ft and 25ft to test the accuracy of the M16A2 on Semi and Full Auto.

Unfortunately we had no vice or clamp to do a proper sight alignment of the rifle so Daniel did the best he could by eye, which seemed to be quite accurate enough.

This test was performed on Semi-Automatic with an average hit ratio out of 5 shots at each distance.

Range Target Test : 75ft :

We did not take a picture for the 75ft test, because of not properly sighting or adjusting the hop-up we could not obtain great accuracy, only about 2/5 shots hit the target at this distance.

Range Target Test : 50ft :

Seen below is the target sheet from 50ft range, only about a +3- deviation, with BBs striking in almost 1inch grouping which is great.

Target shot at 75ft range

Range Target Test : 25ft :

At 25ft range, only about a +2- deviation with BBs striking in approx 1 inch or less grouping.
Possibly even better if we had a proper vice or clamp.

See the Power!

This is probably the most scientific part of this review, we had to be sure and test the gun for Awesomeness. It is a little known quality of many products that requires a logical yet open mind for proper testing.

Below you can download the video recordings of the Awesomeness Testing we performed on several subjects including Cups of Water & various Fruits and Vegetables.

 QUALITY EVALUTATION

Airsoft weaponry is designed for use outdoors, in the dirt, dust, mud and rain. Bought from a good manufacturer most any airsoft gun should be very durable and withstand most of the stress you will put it through.

The Tokyo Marui M16a2 in particular looks to be very quality made, all seams in the plastic and metal are extremely tight, no real entry points for dust or mud to get into. Nothing squeaks when you pick it up or move it around. The only thing is the fore grip is a little wobbly, I was told though by the experts that this is completely normal for this gun, it does not affect its use in any way. The barrel slightly wobbles to the left and right but this is supposedly normal also and does not affect it. According to my research most of these issues can be changed or fixed with minor modifications or replacement of parts.

I was also informed by veteran airsoft players that the TM M16A2 has the most replacement parts, upgrades, and modifications available out of all the current airsoft weaponry. There is everything from bi-pods, scopes and laser sights to silencers and upgrades for every internal component.

I was impressed with the quality of this "gadget" compared to most items I have seen in this price range.

CONCLUSION

The Tokyo Marui M16A2 Airsoft rifle is definitely a quality piece of hardware no matter what you use it for. If you just want a awesome replica that actually does something, or want to shoot targets and have more fun than with a BB rifle, or maybe you actually want to play Airsoft, the TM M16A2 is a great choice.

It is very easy to operate, has instructions that allow you to take it completely apart, functions just like it is supposed to and the realism will surprise you. If you have never had your hands on a real M16, this is as close as you will get.

I suggest for you to be very careful where you carry it around, or where you shoot it at, as it is VERY REALISTIC and WILL get the cops called on you in a heartbeat!

I would like to thank The KAPOWWE Company for providing the Tokyo Marui M16A2 for review!
